| Abstract | Mechanics is a science of force, motion and deformation. It studies the force in nature and engineering from macro and micro perspectives. To reveal the interaction between mechanical movement and physical, chemical and biological processes. It is the first cause of modern science and technology civilization. This lecture will explain various aspects of mechanics in the development of human civilization. So that students may understand mechanics and modern society are related and interacted with each other. At the same time they may know the importance of mechanics in science and engineering innovation. In order to improve students' innovation ability, this lecture will emphatically introduce the newest research development in frontier area of science and technology, especially the related knowledge of mechanics and findings in Biomechanics, Flexible Electronics, Robots, Energy, Aerospace and Navigation. |
| Speaker | Professor YANG Wei, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, foreign academician of American academy of engineering, academician of Third World Academy of Sciences, member of the Russian Academy of Astronautics, the tenth president of the council of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. He is the president of Zhejiang University from 2006 to 2013, the director of National Natural Science Foundation of China. His main research areas are Nanomechanics, Fracture Mechanics, Intelligent Materials and Structural Mechanics, etc. |
