On 26 Oct. 2018, the opening ceremony of 10th National Academic Conference on Fluid Mechanics was held in Zijingang Campus of Zhejiang University. Well-known professors and scholars in China and from abroad, doctoral students and master students, which amounted to around 900 persons attended this conference.
Professor Lin Jianzhong, former president of China Jiliang University, academic research leader of fluid mechanics in Zhejiang University, was the chairman of the conference. He made a welcome speech to all colleagues on opening ceremony, and hoped that the conference will give scholars an opportunity to exchange wisdoms and ideas, to promote the development of fluid mechanics in China. Prof. Yan Jianhua, vice president of Zhejiang University, academician Yang Wei, former president of Zhejiang University and president of The Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Prof. Liu Ye, director of the professional committee of fluid mechanics of Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University, made speeches on opening ceremony. They hoped more and more young talents will devote to the research field of mechanics and achieve abundant findings.
Academician Zhou Heng from Tianjin University, academician Chen Shiyi from Southern University of Science and Technology, academician He Guowei from Chinese Academy of Sciences attended opening ceremony. After the ceremony, academician Chen Shiyi, professor Jeffrey Giacomin from Queen's University in Canada, Prof. Steven Ceccio from University of Michigan in America, Jiang Zonglin from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Prof. Lin Jianzhong made speeches respectively on the research field of fluid mechanics such as turbulence, multiphase flow, hypersonic flow, etc.
The conference lasted for three days from 26th to 28th. Experts, scholars and students had extensive academic exchanges and in-depth discussions in professional fields.
