Academician Wang Quan Was Awarded 2019 Blaise Pascal Medal of the European Academy of Sciences

Academician Wang Quan, alumnus of SAA, academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Canadian Academy of Sciences, and academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, was awarded 2019 Blaise Pascal Medal of the European Academy of Sciences in Engineering. He is invited to receive the prize in October this year.

The Blaise Pascal Medal was established by the European Academy of Sciences in 2003, in order to award scientists worldwide for their outstanding contributions to research and education in fields of science and engineering. Only one Blaise PASCAL medal is awarded each year in the field of engineering.

Academician Wang Quan is an outstanding alumnus of SAA. He received BS in Engineering Mechanics from Zhejiang University in 1988, MS in Solid Mechanics from Peking University in 1991, and PhD in Solid Mechanics from Peking University in 1994. He has taught at National University of Singapore, University of Central Florida, University of Manitoba, City University of Hong Kong and Southern University of Science and Technology. He was appointed as Qiushi Chair Professor of Zhejiang University in 2018. Now he serves as the executive president of Shantou University. His research interests include Structural Health Diagnosis and Repair, Nanotechnology and Applications, and Energy Collection.
