SAA Students Won First Prize in the 5th “Flying Shark Cup”——China Future Aircraft Innovation Competition

Graduate students Ye Zhixian, Liao Wei, Chen Junyin, Han Jianfu and Yang Rui won the first prize in the 5th “Flying Shark Cup”——China Future Aircraft Innovation Competition. Their works for competition is Intelligent Flapping Wing Aircraft and Its Networking Collaboration, which was instructed by Prof. Song Guanghua and Prof. Du Changping. Prof. Zheng Yao, member of the expert committee of the competition, also provided suggestion for completion of this aircraft. Meanwhile, Zhejiang University was awarded the Excellent Organizer Award.

The competition was held in Xiamen University from 19th to 21th July, 2019. The competition is co-sponsored by the Academic Degree & Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education, Children & Youth Science Center of China Association for Science & Technology, International Astronautical Federation, China Space Foundation, Chinese Society of Astronautics, and Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics. China Futre Aircraft Innovation Competition was first held in 2015. So far it has been held for five times. The competition has great influence among students, universities and enterprises, and has become a national and high-level competition widely recognized at home and abroad.

A total of 508 teams signed up for the contest, and 125 teams from 44 universities entered the finals. In the final on July 20, more than 40 experts and scholars judged students' works from various aspects: topic innovation, scientificity, technical originality, depth, feasibility and representatives, economic and social benefits, report writing and comprehensive performance in defense. The competition finally awarded 15 first prizes, 30 second prizes and 80 third prizes.
