2019 Asian Workshop on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics was successfully held in Hangzhou International Expo Center from 24 to 27 Aug. The workshop provided a platform for scholars and scientists in Asian countries to communicate and exchange founding and new ideas in the area of theoretical and applied mechanics, which will surely promote high-level research collaboration between countries in Asia.
Opening ceremony was held by Prof. Lv Chaofeng. Academician Yang Wei, president of Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, made the opening ceremony address. Prof. Qu Shaoxing from Zhejiang University and Prof. Chen Weiqiu from the organizing committee made speech on the ceremony and showed warm welcome to participants.
Four world-renowned scholars, Prof. Yang Wei from Zhejiang Unviersity, Prof. Boo Cheong Khoo from National University of Singapore, Prof. Wing Kam Liu from North Western University and Prof. Kikuo Kishimoto from Tokyo Institute of Techogy, made plenary lectures after the opening ceremony. Other 15 world-famous scholars from City University of Hong Kong, RMIT University Australia, Beijing University, etc. made keynote reports in the conference.
After the keynote presentation, 5 sub-sessions were held including fluid mechanics, dynamics of continuous systems, contact and failure mechanics, nanomaterials mechanics, soft materials and structural mechanics. Over 80 scholars joined these sessions. Several research topics were discussed during the conference.
This conference covered various edge-cutting issues in the field of mechanics, showing many different research perspectives, enhancing academic exchanges and cooperation between universities in Asia, Oceania and other countries and regions, providing a platform for researchers to share new ideas and achievements.
