The Second National Academic Forum for Doctoral Students in Mechanics was successfully held in Hangzhou. More than 300 attendants including distinguished scholars, professors and teachers, doctoral students attended this forum.
Vice president of Zhejiang University WANG Lizhong, Chairman of this forum QU Shaoxing, delivered speeches in opening ceremony. They hoped this forum to be a good opportunity for doctoral students to exchange experience and academic researches. Academician YANG Wei encouraged doctoral students to take the responsibility to challenge difficulties and contribute to our nation.
Several distinguished scholars made reports. Academician YANG Wei made a report entitled “X Mechanics: The Frontiers of Immensity”, in which he introduced latest achievements in multi-functional soft matter, multi-scale advanced materials, quadruped robot and other aspects. Academician WEI Yueguang made a report entitled Strength and failure problems in solid mechanics and big data analysis, in which he proposed to combine data analysis and physics research. Professor ZHANG Yuehong made a report entitled “Awareness and responsibility of scientific research integrity”, in which he emphasize the importance of integrity for young scientist.
Among 335 papers submitted, 269 doctoral theses were accepted by the conference, and 37 of them were selected as excellent academic reports after experts reviewing. Professor Qian Jin presided over the closing ceremony. Dalian University of Technology will undertake the next National Academic Forum for Doctoral Students in Mechanics.
