Invited by Institute of Applied Mechanics, Prof. Michel Destrad from National University of Ireland Galway visited School of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Oct. and made an academic report on 17 Dec.
The report is entitled “Acoustic evaluation of material parameters, stresses, and strains in soft materials”. Prof. Michel Destrade introduced the latest research results of his research team in using the acoustic properties of soft materials for non-destructive testing of biological tissues. Professor Destrade's research results can be used to detect whether the brain is suffering from Parkinson's disease, tumor and other malignant diseases. It is a convenient and effective mechanical characterization method of human soft tissue, which is of great significance to the simulation evaluation of biological trauma and neurosurgery.
Prof. Michel Destrade is Chair of the Department of Applied Mechanics at the National University of Ireland, Galway, adjunct Professor at Dublin University and Zhejiang University, and member of the International Brain Science and Cancer Laboratory at the University of Oxford. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Proceedings of the Royal Society and Nonlinear Mechanics. He began to teach the course of course of Continuum Mechanics II since 2017 in Zhejiang University. He came to China in Oct. After more than a month of isolation in hotel, he actively devoted himself to the teaching and research in Zhejiang University.
